So you're in Orlando, Florida.... The City Beautiful.... and you want to enjoy a romantic date with your honey. What do you do? The real question is what don't you do???
There is sooo much to see and do in Orlando and if you can't enjoy a romantic evening here, then you might want to rethink your life! Some people think they need to avoid the many theme parks and other attractions in order to have an enjoyable and romantic experience in Orlando, but they couldn't be further from the truth. There are a number of romantic opportunities for you and your honey to make ever lasting memories together. Some have classy events and restuarants, while others have wonderful opportunities for you and your honey to get close and enjoy a new experience.
The Epcot Food & Wine Festival is definately one of our favorite events. Their World Showcase of seemingly endless selections of global cousine & beverages makes each visit a unique experience. If you don't want to sample cousine from around the world, you can dine at one of the specialty restuarants located within the park. Great food is not the only wonderful experience to enjoy with your Epcot Food & Wine Date. Live performances from various artists both new and old are scheduled throughout the festival season (usually Mid-September through Mid-November). Once your belly is full and your soul is soothed, stay for a few more minutes to enjoy the fireworks show just prior to park closing.
In addition to stuffing yourself while listening to live music and a fireworks show, Epcot has been rolling out new events such as the Beverage Boot Camp, Brunch With A Twist, Culinary Adventures with a Master Chef, The Secrets of Flavor as well as other notable events such as book signings, bottle signings, meet & greets. Some events require prior reservations and others are available upon arrival. Each year Epcot seems to be intruducing new adventures and opportunities to their Food & Wine Festival so if you've been there once and have checked that adventure off your list, you may wish to revisit this destination for an entirely new series of wonderful memories. Be sure to check schedules and reservations in advance so you don't miss anything you are specifically interested in.
For those of you checking the weather forecast before you head on out to the Food & Wine festival, or any central Florida outdoor activity for that matter, don't be overly concerned unless the forecast is "predicting" rain showers at 80% or more. Central Florida is notorious for frequent changing weather and there's an old saying that goes "If you don't like the weather here, just wait a minute".
You can be cooking in the sun one minute, totally drenched from rain the next, then cooking once again a few minutes later. Many Orlando residents will tell you to keep a ziplock bag handy if you will be enjoying outdoor activity for the day. A freezer type bag large enough to hold a wallet, cell phones and keys won't weigh you down and it will be much appreciated when the need arises. A small foldable clear poncho might be of some use to you as well, but keep in mind Murphy's Law kicks in from time to time. If you have it, you won't need it. If you don't have it, you might wish you did! Either way, plan accordingly and make sure you drink plenty of fluids (other than beer and wine). Central Florida humidity can get the best of some people so stay hydrated and make wonderful memories together!
